Testimony Time:-I am still growing up but there was a time I could see my mother celebrating her 40th birthday; albeit with a thanksgiving service in a church. There was another time that my father too celebrated his 50th birthday, also with a thanksgiving. These were very big event in my life I was then forced to surrender to the thought; when will I attain such ages? Now that I have passed those stages, I can see my children enjoying the same cycle again and I came to the conclusion that the intermittent drop of ages we call growth is not life after all but what was locked in between the growth and the ages; this is God Himself!
The question surrounding life is how well we have come to learn about and understand God in all the processes of life. This is because God is the creator of heaven and earth. Life therefore is not about how well we have grown or how old we are? Life is not about riches, fame, accumulation of wealth, beauty and how many battles you have won. Life is also not about competition or the prowess you enjoy within your discipline. What constitute life is how much you have grown to love God and the inspiration we have given to others. Life is about when all is put together; the amount of peace we enjoy at night when you go to sleep.
In this life however, I have seen rich men rise from absolute nothing and later died filled with ignominy. As well, I have seen some who had their bodies exhumed and burnt, with their ashes scattered as if they have never lived or passed through this earth before. I have also seen memorial stones set up for those who have lived with flamboyancy destroyed with enormous scars of graffiti. Not only that the titles accorded them whilst in this sinful world were strewn of them in a disgraceful manner. Would you believe that? "There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. (Proverbs 13:7)
Whereas, I have also seen a beggar who rose from nothing, he later died as a famous man. Though he was not rich whilst growing up, he endured life by following the precepts of the Lord. It turned out that he had so much wealth in the word and peace of God which puts him at the same par with the rich man whilst on earth and in the Kingdom of God. Lazarus was a clear example who Christ used to defeat the most irresistible enemy of man which is death (John 11:1-44). Also, the difference showed Lazarus gifted with the peace of God and he had Christ interest vested in him. He died a humble man and was raised up after four days by Jesus Christ.
Let us face it, success in life is not simply determined by how rich you are but the amount of peace you can gather as a child of God. In that, one needs to move away from every unrighteousness to an area which commands the light of God. We must also know that irrespective; "Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all. (Proverbs 22:2)
When Christ said love me with all your heart, He means we should love Him without reservation and that includes the ability to shun every attributes relating to darkness and uphold those that assimilates the light of the Kingdom of God. "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)
You are the pillar that holds the world and the One that holds our hearts; hold our hearts and make them fit for Your habitation in Jesus name. Amen
