Checking into God's Presence... “The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies. He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.” Psalm 104:18-25 Throughout the Scripture, God's name is portrayed as the giver and taker of life. This fact remains contingent upon the continuation and the sustainability of our "breath" by the creator of the universe. It means when God ceases to power any breathe, life quite simply and suddenly becomes extinguished. David in Psalm 104:24 made a poignant note of this assertion: "How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures when You take away their breath, they die and return to the dust" If life then is seen and or perceived as some kind of race, who are we competing with? Undoubtedly, our daily experiences portray everyone to be on a form of race on a race track; either chasing one thing and or being chased by something different altogether. Even at that, life stories: depending on how you make them are usually borne out of contention which always lead to diverse-repercussions. This however puts life more on the part of a race track than the way the Bible describes and expects us to lead our lives. Why then do we need to be contentious as Children of God? How come contentment has suddenly become so foreign amongst us. It does not matter if you run or view life pinned down on a race track that is filled with contention, strife, anger, jealousies, hatred and or love. Whichever angle you perceive life; we must know that we are in this life for a little time and oftentimes that becomes too hard for us to understand. In that, irrespective of what we currently enjoy, perceived and or considered to be a sumptuous track will always come to an end before our fading eyes someday. Whilst we enjoy the New Year, take it as your season to shine but always remember that heaven is home and it is real. David said in Psalm 104: 19 For God “appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. Thou makest darkness, and it is night:” Lord we beseech you to be our guide and erase all contentious spirit in our hearts so we can begin to experience peace in our lifetime. You remained the first in our thoughts this year, let the good things of life follow and encompass us. Guide so Your Holy Spirit can empower, overwhelm, enable and enrich us with Your favour and let us be surrounded with Your grace in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen Just Checking into His Presence...
